Company Description: It’s no longer Greek to you…Mandarin that is. The creators of Yeeyan have formed an online community of users wishing to bridge the language gap between Chinese and English speakers. The site provides a platform for cross translation of content between English and Chinese. Users add articles (mostly blog posts) they find interesting in their native language and share a translated version in either English or Chinese. For those lacking translation skills, there is a forum for content to be uploaded and translation solicited. Yeeyan has created a marketplace for ideas and thoughts to be shared and understood across communities.
An English version was launched in March of this year with the hopes that it will draw more native-English speakers. There is quite a lot of Chinese content but the site still lacks in quality English articles. The homepage is easy to navigate showing recent translations and top read articles. Yeeyan is hoping to expand into multiple languages including Japanese, French and German. The concept is very exciting and will hopefully provide cross-cultural insight. However, it may be a challenge for Yeeyan to keep translators motivated and high quality content
