MyTshirt: Supplying a Wardrobe Staple
Published by BV China September 21st, 2007 in User Generated Content, Beijing, Social NetworksCompany Description:
A CafePress style website has popped up out of Beijing. Three young founders started MyTshirt in July of 2006 and created a site for users to become part of a creative t-shirt design community. Users can either create their own designs and have their t-shirts made or they can submit their designs to the community and have other members vote on them. The favorites are highlighted on the website
for others to buy. So if your own creative juices aren’t flowing, there are plenty of popular designs to choose from. The favorites are always changing to bring back curious t-shirt fans.
So far the founders have put in their own capital for state of the art printers and have been hyping up the quality of their fine jersey knit cotton shirts, which run 35-45 RMB. The site is popular among college students and has received orders from small internet companies, NGOs and charity organizations. The recent success of US equivalent Threadless, which just opened its first retail store, may be indicative of how MyTshirt can grow to be a flourishing business with the proper guidance. They are currently looking for additional investors.
